Decorating Inspirations: White Living Room Furniture

I have become obsessed with the color white.  Yep, it's true. I'm just more attracted to something if it's white. Particularly white furniture; although, I know with a dog and a cat white furniture is not practical or even feasible in my house. Even if I had slipcovers, the slipcovers would have to be washed at least every other day!!!!

Still, when you look at this room, it is really hard to resist having white in the room. I fell in love with this room as soon as I saw it. It blends that feeling of being formal and relaxed so beautifully. But I also know that Jasper would have his black fur all over that beautiful rug and chair!!! Still...I can dream about this room being part of my home.

Here's another room that I love. The chippy white coffee table is fantastic! And, of course, I love the white slipcovered sofa. Doesn't it just scream "sit on me!"? I also have to say that that is a really cute little chandelier. I'm still thinking about putting a chandelier in our living room. We have our tv in the corner, and I think a nice chandelier hanging above the tv would look fantastic.

More white slipcovers! I bet you can guess what attracted me to this living room...the pink pillows! But I'm also noticing some things in this room that would work in my own living room. Things like the white accessories, the vase, the white table, the plant in the white pot. These are things I could do to bring some freshness to my room.  I also like where that little table is setting. It's really convenient and allows the chair and sofa to be closer together.

Hmmmm...this one is a little blurry at this size, but I wanted it big so you could see the detail. I love how this room has the white slipcovered sofa, but it brings in other colors too. Like the green shutters at the windows--don't you LOVE those shutters?!

Okay, okay...this is my ultimate white living room dream... White slipcovers, white ruffled table cloths, lots of books, flowers, a little bling....I mean can anything get more romantic than this????  By the way, this a actually a very small hunting cabin that some lucky woman turned into her little cottage retreat. siiiiiiighhhhh...

Another room that could be my ultimate dream living room...chandelier-LOVE...chippy walls-LOVE...tons of pillows-LOVE... sigh.

Okay, back to rooms that people really live in... You know, I never thought I would like a sectional sofa, but this one looks so inviting. I believe these are actually vintage sheets that the homeowner throws on her sofa to give it that cottage-ee feel that she loves.

When it comes right down to it, I absolutely love all of these living rooms, but I have absolutely NO idea how they keep them clean!!!!  Right now I'm looking at by sweet little boy, Jasper (our cat), curled up sleeping in Jim's recliner, and I know there is no way I'd be able to keep his chocolate brown fur from showing on everything.

What about you? Are there any designs that you love that you know won't work in your family? Maybe together we can figure out how to get a similar look and still have it work.

I love the white, rustic, shabby chic look. No good in my house with four dogs and a cat though!

Yep! Same here! For some reason, pets sure do put a crimp in the decorating white style!!  (but I'm not willing to give them up!)
