The Reception is over, Now the projects begin

View of our reception of the balcony.
There are several things that have been put off during the planning of our reception. Some of them are house related, and others are business related. So I thought I should make some kind of a list. I've seen other bloggers make lists, and I always find it kind of interesting to watch them work through them.

This is the hairpiece I made and wore at the reception.
Of course, the goal is to share pictures of all of these things, but unfortunately, that probably won't happen. I know myself well enough to know I'm terrible about taking before and after pictures!!! However, I could go around today and take pictures of all the things that need to get done so I'll have the before pictures... hmmmm... that's not such a bad idea, since it always seems to be the before pictures that I'm missing!!!

Anyway, here is my list of projects.
1. Put trim molding around the front door and the back door. It has been off since last November!
2. Put up the front entry light. Again, we've had a hole with cords sticking down since last November!
3. Come up with a business name for my bridal accessories business, which will work into a wedding planning business also.
4. Set up an Etsy storefront... this one can't be done until I come up with a name for my business.
5. Finish installing the last row of siding on the front and the back of the house...another one that's been waiting since last November.
6. Weed the garden.
7. Bathe the dog.
8. Paint the kitchen cabinets.
9. Paint the trim molding and the closet door.

Okay... I think that's a long enough list for now. If I make it too long, I won't want to work on any of them!!!

Our Wedding: The Reception

This past weekend, on August 6th, we finally had our wedding reception. It was so wonderful. Everything was exactly the way I imagined it. The venue looked so beautiful. The food was delicious. The flowers were beautiful. The mix-matched china and stemware were lovely. The DJ did a wonderful job with the music. And, everything together just combined so elegantly. It was everything I ever wanted.

The table settings.
I rented the china from Debby Does Dishes. Debby spent a lot of time mix-matching all the dishes so they looked lovely together. She said ours was the first all pink reception she's ever done. Usually, she has all different colors of china, unless you select the white china, but because we had so few people, she was able to use dishes that all had pink in them somewhere.

The beautiful flowers.
Debby provided the table cloths, which went all the way to the floor. I wanted a little shimmer, so I bought ivory organza overlays. I don't know if anyone really noticed, but it made a big difference to me.

Another view of the table and flowers. You can see our sweetheart table in the background.
Janet from Flora Bella Designs did our flowers. She did such an incredible job. The flowers were so beautiful. Some were even from her own garden. And they smelled so good. The flowers were the frosting on the room.

Everything in place, looking beautiful and elegant.
This gives you an idea what every place setting looked like. Every place setting had a fan on the plates. There was no air conditioning in our venue, and so several people used these fans to cool themselves a bit.

Our wedding cake that my mom made.
Let me just say that my mom is super talented. I don't think any professional baker could have made a more beautiful cake.

My handsome husband at the cake table.
Jim saw the cake before I did, and when I asked him if it would do he got this twinkle in his eye and said "Oh, yes! It will do!" Behind him you can get a glimpse of his groom's cake. Ohhh...let me just say the groom's cake was to die for, it tasted so good!

Me at the cake table.
Yes, I was happy with the cake too. Like I said, my mom does beautiful work. If you look closely, you can tell that I'm already very warm, and at that point the reception hadn't even started!!!

Me and my beautiful niece.
Do you see how much taller my niece is than I am?  I was wearing 5 inch heels!!!!! But she is so beautiful and turning into a lovely woman. She turned 13 today.

A nice view of the back of my dress.
When I got married, my dress kept falling down. So I added cap sleeves to it for the reception. Then after they were added, I had major back cleavage, so I had to do a little more altering to the dress. Have to say, though, my bum doesn't look too bad in this picture!

My "Titanic" pose, except I kept my clothes on!
I was goofing around for the camera, while my niece was gathering up the family for a family picture. Someone made a comment about it being a "Titanic" pose, but actually it was more of a "fainting couch" pose because of the heat and humidity!

Me and my handsome husband.
It really isn't fair that he looks so darned handsome in every picture taken of him! I'm "glowing", which is something I understand Southern woman do instead of sweating.

My parents at the cake table. Aren't they a great looking couple?
My mom and dad are so wonderful. They both did a lot to help pull everything off. Fortunately, everything they did was during the week before the reception, so they were able to just enjoy themselves at the party.

I am so lucky. I had the perfect wedding, to the perfect man, with a perfect reception to celebrate it! Blessing abound!
