Decorating Inspirations: Pink Bathrooms, Kitchens, and Dining Rooms

I think everyone knows that my favorite color is pink.  It has been my favorite color all my life.  It's funny, because my niece used to share my love of the color pink, but her current favorite color is neon green.  That's where she and I differ. I never had a different "current" favorite color.

Trip to Detroit

Sailboat as seen from our room.
Last September, Jim did his final work related trip for the Census Bureau, and I got to go along! It was the first time he had been able to take me with him when they sent him on trips, so that was pretty cool.

Anyway, while Jim was in his meetings, I was able to wander around Detroit (well, as far away from the hotel as I felt safe to go, which wasn't far), and I had my camera with me.

Another view from our room.
While I was out and about, I made friends with a local. He didn't talk very much, but I think his name was Harvey.

Harvey
I think he was getting bored with my conversation at this point.
We stayed at the Renaissance Center, which is the tallest all-hotel skyscraper in the Western Hemisphere. (Just thought you'd be interested in that little piece of trivia.)

 Inside the Renaissance Center

Another view of the atrium.
When we were on our way home, I snapped a picture of this church too. I love old churches.

Sorry, I don't know the name of this church...
So that was our trip... I know it was a while ago, but I thought you'd like the pictures.

New picture of my wedding rings

When I got my engagement ring, I tried so hard to get a good picture of it without a lot of success.  Now I've learned how to take pictures of jewelry, so tonight I took some new pictures.  Here's the one I like the best.

The figure behind my rings was a wedding gift from our dear friends Jack and Cheryl. It's a couple embracing and says "To have and to hold." I think it is the perfect backdrop for my wedding rings...

My Shoes from Our Wedding

Anyone who knows me, knows that I love shoes. So, it shouldn't surprise anyone that I had to find a pair of killer shoes for my wedding. The search took a while, because at first I thought I wanted blue shoes, but then I found them...they weren't blue...they were pink--my favorite color.

When I ordered them, I had no idea I would love them as much as I did. But when the arrived, I knew they were absolutely perfect. Not only were they beautiful, but they also perfectly matched the color of the hair piece I made to wear.  It was fate really that I got them, because afterwards, I found out that Badgley Mischka had stopped making them in pink!  Can you imagine that?????

Anyway, as it turns out, Jamie, our photographer, really liked my shoes too--at least it would appear so, when you see how many pictures she took of them! Take a look!

I think I might do a collage of all the pictures of my wedding shoes and frame them. I think that would make such an interesting piece of art to hang somewhere in the house. Hmmm...I think I've just come up with a new project for myself.

Our Wedding: After the Ceremony

The following pictures are some of my favorites... We were at the fountain that is in front of an amphitheater in Forsyth Park. (I always go back and forth as to whether I'm supposed to spell Forsyth with an "e" or without one. It's on the internet both ways!)

Jim was actually worried about getting his feet wet when we were sitting there. Even though his legs are very long, he really didn't have anything to worry about.

We kissed a lot that day...  Okay, I'll admit it. We kiss a lot every day, but these kisses were extra special, because they were on our Wedding Day!

In this picture you can kind of see how bit the amphitheater is.

More kissing... This was such a nice place, because the sound of the water let us have a few private conversations that Jamie, our photographer, couldn't hear. Not that were were saying anything super private, but a few romantic words that only a newlywed husband and wife should hear.

See... You can see how far Jim's feet are from the water. He had nothing to worry about! Notice though, I had my shoes off and a safe distance away from the edge. It truly would have been a tragedy if my shoes had gotten wet!!

Blog Banner

Did any of you notice I updated my banner with another picture?  I'm really having a lot of fun with it. I added another picture from our wedding and a few more roses.  What I'm finding exciting about this is I can change out those pictures if I want... Of course, that probably won't happen for a while, simply because I'm still in love with my wedding pictures. LOL!

Anyway, just to remind you what the old banner looked like, here it is.

Of course, now that I'm looking at the old one... I'm kind of thinking I like it better than the new one... What do you think? Is the new one too busy looking?

Oh! and I wanted to let you know that I changed the way links work. I had put in HTML code that would open a new window whenever you clicked on a link, but I found out that opens up a new window for everything, even if you clicked on the tabs at the top of my blog--not good. Who wants all those windows opening to move around a blog. So, I have try to remember to add the code manually to links that will take you to other sites... A little more work, but you're worth it!

Our Wedding: The Ceremony!

Do you know what I just realized?  I've never shared any pictures of the actual wedding ceremony with you!!!  I am sooooo sorry for that oversight!! Let's correct that right now!

Chad Baker did such a lovely job of officiating. We really liked him. You'd never guess that he was in pain from a back injury. He was worried that it would show in the pictures. Isn't the Gastonian gorgeous? Jim had them light a fire in the fireplace for the ceremony. I thought that was sooo romantic!

If anyone has any question about whether Jim truly wanted to get married, I'd say this picture says it all. He wanted to get married. I love how he's looking at me.

Okay... Yeah... I am in complete awe of my husband and totally in love.

Here I am putting his ring on his finger.

Here I'm laughing because I couldn't get it on, and I looked up at Jim and said "Help me!" Looking back, I think it's completely appropriate that I said that, because he has always been there to help me no matter what.

Okay... I'm not sure what my expression was about there, maybe I was still struggling to get his ring on. I know I did feel guilty for a split second that I couldn't do it.

This is one of my favorite pictures... It's the part where the pastor says, "you may kiss the bride." It was our first kiss as husband and wife.

Of course, we hugged following the kiss.

And then at last turning around to be announced as Mr. & Mrs. James Clark... Since it was just the two of us, our photographer and our videographer, I laughed a bit. But look at how proud Jim looks.

Our wedding was everything I dreamed it would be. Incredibly romantic, very intimate, and extremely personal. Jim was so handsome and so debonair. I felt beautiful. I loved my dress. I loved everything about the day. But most of all, I love my husband with all my heart, and I'm so glad he asked me to marry him!
