Added Benefit

Today I found an added benefit to painting the trim in the living room white.  The room is much brighter!  When we painted the room a couple years ago, we were going for a cozy look. Even though it is a small room, it gets a lot of light, so it can pull off darker colors.

I wish I had taken some pictures of Jim's living room before we painted it. It would surprise you how different it looked, and how much more cozy it looks now. I know it seems to go against common sense to paint a small room brown, but somehow it made the room more inviting...maybe because the lack of color was making it feel cold.

One thing is for sure, it does feel more and more like a home with every little change we make.

Now I want to get some new window treatments for the windows. I'm having a hard time deciding what I want. I want something that is going to be a little more feminine. Everything in the room is so dark, the walls, the furniture, the carpet (which will eventually be ripped up to reveal the hardwood floors), so I think it needs something lighter.

Do any of you have any suggestions for what I can do to update the window treatments?  The blinds aren't doing it for me.
