Yesterday, Jim asked me to marry him, and I said yes! I'm so excited, and I've never been happier! Actually, both of us are really happy!
The way it happened was soooo Jim. He kept saying he didn't know what to get me for our anniversary, and I kept saying a ring would be nice. Then Friday, he said he didn't know my ring size, and of course I immediately offered to go with him so he'd be sure to get the right size.
As it turned out, Friday we were going to the last fish fry at the club, so Jim suggested we go in the morning. On the way home from the fish fry, we found out that all the power was out in our neighborhood, and the power company said it wouldn't be back on until 8 AM. Okay...we could deal with that. No problem.
9:30 AM, still no power. So it was off to Jim's sister's house to pick up Jim's generator. Darn that thing is heavy! It took the whole morning, because we went to breakfast first, and by the time we got home, the power was back on. Hurray! Except Jim said that he didn't think we had time to got to the jewelry store for my present and that I'd probably have to give him a chance to get it later.

I put on my dress, did my make up and hair, and then off we went to the mall.
At the first jewelry store, I wasn't sure he was thinking about a ring, but just in case, I took him right over to the rings and had the clerk show us the ring design I knew I wanted... Okay, it was 3 carats total diamond weight, and $10,000. Way to large for my small hands and way to expensive. Although, I suspect that if I had been totally in love with it and had had my heart set on it that Jim would have bought it...that is after I picked him up off the floor!
Onto the next store... I had my heart set on an three stone ring set with emerald cut diamonds. Do you know how hard it is to find emerald cut diamonds... Princess cut, round, radiant, heart-shaped...but emerald cut--not a chance. However, every store said they could get them in. However, I wanted me ring then, not in a few days.
Okay, I take that back, all but one of the stores did have rings with emerald cut diamonds. They just didn't have any three stone rings with emerald cut diamond. And the rings they did have were just too fussy looking. I wanted something very clean and elegant looking.

My hand is a little swelled in the picture. It was taken first thing this morning when the sun was coming in the window. I definitely need to get a real camera! I can't get a picture of it that isn't blurry with my cell phone. Even so, I think it looks beautiful!
Here's the best thing about the whole thing...
I get to spend the rest of my life with Jim!!!!
I'll tell you about how he asked me and about the rest of the evening later!
