I have all these design ideas in my head for Jim's house, and I cannot wait to get started!
I've made a plan, which I haven't shared with Jim yet. We have talked quite a bit about the things we want to do. I'm not entirely sure he's in agreement with them. He seems to listen and generally seems to like the ideas I share, but I don't get a real sense of excitement about them. It might be that it doesn't really matter to him, that he's really only interested in them because it makes me happy, and there isn't anything wrong with that. Although, I will admit that he does tell me when he thinks something is too artsy-fartsy.
Anyway, the plan I have in mind is to get the kitchen painted first, but on second thought, perhaps the living room would be a better place to start. I think we might be at his house all next week, so maybe he'll let me get started on some of painting.
Oh, and I haven't forgotten about the table he and I bought at a yard sale. We're refinishing it, but we haven't gotten as far on it as I thought we would be at this time. Maybe we can get some more stuff for stripping it this weekend.
There are so many things that I could be doing, but I'm here at my apartment, so I can't do them!!!! Argh!! It will be nice when we're not living in two places!

Designing a life
Designing a life has meant a lot more than just decorating. I've been making a lot of changes. Most of them because Jim. I find myself wanting to do things I've never really given much thought to before; such as, having dinner ready for him every night.
That's one of those things that I never gave a lot of thought to. Living by myself, I usually fixed something very simple that didn't require cooking most of the time--something like a sandwich or a bowl of cereal. However, I'm finding that I enjoy cooking for Jim. I enjoy planning a menu and creating new things for us to eat together. Believe it or not, I've gotten very good at timing things so they are done when Jim gets home.
Tonight I made Baked Chicken Breasts and Angel Hair Pasta with Tomatoes and Basil.
The chicken was dipped in a wine and egg wash then breaded with Italian bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, flour, basil, and oregano. I seared them in the frying pan with Olive Oil and Garlic, then baked them for 40 minutes...
The sauce for the Angel Hair Pasta consisted of olive oil, garlic, crushed red pepper flakes, a can of diced tomatoes, salt, and basil. Jim liked it, although, I think he was a little surprised by the heat from the crushed red pepper!
If anyone would like the recipes, I'd be happy to share them.
